What: BSA flag retirement ceremony & conservation project When: 9 May 09, 0900-1600 hrs Who: Troop 80 & Cub Scout Pack 89 Timeline: 0900: Troop 80 & Pack (one patrol/den each) meet at the Choson Gift Shop to collect donated old flags & plastic bottles/newspapers for our conservation recycling project. 1000: Troop 80 & Pack (less flag collecting crews) meet at the Camp Coiner ceremony site (ball field or picnic area TBD) to begin ceremony & cook out preparation. 1100: End collections. Transport flags to Camp Coiner ceremony site. Transport recyclable items TBD. 1130-1215: Lunch. Pack 89 hosted “Hot Dog” cook out. 1215: Troop 80 & Pack 89 rehearsals 1230 - 1315: Flag preparation. 1315: Light ceremony fire and scout/cub formation. Group photo. 1330 – 1500: Flag Retirement Ceremony 1500 – 1600 or UTC: Leave No Trace & ENDEX Uniform: Class A (no sash), cap, boots (no tennis shoes/sandals), gloves, water bottle (filled) Emergency Support: USAG-Y (fire department/MP/hospital) & Eagle Scout/adult medics. No scout should participate if having smoke induced medical conditions (asthma) or fear of fire. Supplies: Colors (US, Troop & Pack flags with stands), Song sheets, Plastic containers to hold flags (3), scissors (4), water jugs (6) for burn treatment & fire extinguish, shovel, rake, etc Flag Collection: Scouts will collect flags (US only) at the Choson gift shop. Scouts will fold each donated flags with honors, appropriately placed in a container for transport to the ceremony site. Uniform is Class A. A scout hand shake and thanks will be given to each donator. Lunch: Pack 89 will host a BBQ cookout for all participants near the ceremony site. Bugler: Brings bugle/trumpet & prepared to play TAPS. Song: Star Spangled Banner or Our Land? Scouts sing or designate singer? Conservation Project: Simultaneously collect plastic bottles and newspapers at the flag collection site. USAG-Yongsan DPW will pick up all recyclable materials. |
